The European Law Students' Association ELSA there is the biggest
students' and young lawyers organisation in Europe. ELSA - is an
independent, non-political, non-profit organisation of law students
and young lawyers, which was founded in 1981 by law students from
Austria, Hungary, Poland and West Germany.
Today ELSA spans 39 European countries, and has approx. 25,000
individual members in 200 Local Groups. ELSA has consultative status
with UNESCO, Ecosoc
ELSA Poland comprises 14 local groups at 16 law faculties. Thus, it
is represented at every law faculty. ELSA's aims include the
fostering of a better understanding and co- operation between
Europeans who work and study to become members of the legal
profession, as well as the promotion of knowledge of the domestic
laws of ELSA member and observer states, European Community law,
international and comparative law. Through a wide range of
activities, ELSA aims to add a further dimension to academic study
to help produce well-rounded lawyers with a practical and
international outlook. A purely academic background is no longer
enough to meet the professional and cultural challenges of the next
decade and beyond.
